BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. -- Being down a man while also missing two stars didnt seem to faze Toronto FC on Wednesday. Toronto (6-4-3, 21 points) ran its unbeaten streak to six as it resisted late Chicago pressure to earn a 1-1 tie at soggy Toyota Park. Midfielder Jackson scored Torontos lone goal in the 42nd minute, heading a feed from forward Jermain Defoe past Fire goalkeeper Sean Johnson. "Any point on the road is a good point, especially when youre down to 10 men," said Toronto coach Ryan Nelsen, whose team remains unbeaten (3-0-3) in league play since a May 3 loss to New England. "They (the Fire) did very well in the second half and pushed us hard. We had to defend and we defended very well." Forward Luke Moore was issued a red card and ejected in the 29th minute after a mid-air collision with Fire midfielder Chris Ritter and Toronto played the final hour with 10 men. Toronto FC was also outshot 20-7 and trailed in possession by a lopsided 62-38 per cent. Yet Chicago mustered only one score - Harry Shipps sixth goal of the season in the 56th minute. "We did enough to win the game, when its 10 men against 11 we should win the game," said Fire coach Frank Yallop, whose team is winless in five games. "We had our chances, its frustrating. We had them. Thats our problem right now, we cant seem to win a game." Numerous other Chicago shots went wide, fell short or were stopped by Toronto goalkeeper Joe Bendik, who had five saves. In the 73rd minute an apparent go-ahead goal by Fire defender Bakary Soumare was waved off on an offside call. Toronto was playing its second game in five days while Chicago was among the last Major League Soccer teams to restart the season after a lengthy World Cup break. "This point is very valuable," Nelsen said. "It proves that away from home weve been down to 10 men twice and weve managed to get something out of the game and that was extremely important." Moores ejection came after a midfield battle for possession with Ritter. Moore appeared to elbow Ritter in the right temple. Ritter temporarily left the game but was back within three minutes with his his head bandaged. The ejection includes an automatic suspension for Saturdays home game with D.C. United. Toronto was missing goalkeeper Julio Cesar, who helped carry host Brazil into the World Cups final eight, as well as recent midfielder acquisition Michael Bradley, expected back soon from a U.S. team stint. Wednesdays game was played under steady drizzle and unusually cool temperatures. Brewers Jonathan Schoop Jersey . The attacking midfielder arrives on a free transfer from Spains Malaga. The tournament was set to be held Sept. 15-21 and would have been the first ATP tournament held in Israel since 1996. But amid Israels military campaign against Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip, ATP President Chris Kermode said "we do not feel we can proceed as planned given the situation in the region. Stitched Brewers Jerseys . It was the most lopsided loss in Lakers history. Darren Collison had a team-high 24 points while starting at shooting guard for the injured Jamal Crawford. Chris Paul added 13 points and 11 assists for the Clippers, who apparently are trying to make up for decades of humiliation at the hands of the Lakers all in one season; theyve won the last two meetings by a combined 84 points. Brewers Keon Broxton Jersey .C. -- After a listless first half, the Washington Wizards used a big third quarter run to beat the Charlotte Bobcats Bradley Beal scored 21 points and the Wizards used a 17-0 run in the third quarter to take control of what had been a close game and beat the Bobcats 97-83 on Tuesday night. Each week, The Reporters put their thumbs out to the good and the bad in the world of sports. This week they discuss the NFL suing rapper MIA, Toronto Argonauts QB Zach Collaros, boxing judge CJ Ross, and Philadelphia Eagles fans warm reception for Donovan McNabb. Bruce Arthur, National Post: My thumb is down to the NFL which has apparently been secretly suing the Sri Lankan singer/rapper MIA since she appeared in the Super Bowl halftime show last year with Madonna where she flipped the bird to the camera. And yes, she did sign a contract which acknowledged the “tremendous public respect and reputation for wholesomeness of the NFL.” And the NFL thinks that this has apparently damaged that reputation as opposed to say Bountygate, the fact that Aldon Smith is playing this Sunday after being picked up for a DUI Friday morning, or the $765 million concussion settlement in which it has been revealed the NFL tried to exclude players who died or killed themselves before 2009. Nope, its MIA, thats the problem. Steve Simmons, Sun Media: This surprises even me to say this but my thumb is up to Zach Collaros , the backup quarterback to Ricky Ray now starting for the Toronto Argonauts. The Argos went on the road to Montreal, to Regina, and last night to Calgary. Win, win, win. Collaros came back in the second half of each of those games and brought the Argos to victory. The Argos are now not just the defending Grey Cup champions but I think the favourites for this year because Collaros has kept them in games and won them. Collaros has done more than anybody could have possiblyy anticipated.dddddddddddd Michael Farber, Sports Illustrated: My thumb is up to CJ Ross, who made her best decision of the week after making a mess of her scorecard at the Floyd Mayweather-Canelo Alvarez mismatch. The veteran boxing judge has decided to take a break from the sport, perhaps permanently. In what looked to be a one-sided fight to just about anyone with vision last Saturday night somehow ended up as a draw on Ross scorecard. This wasnt the first time anything like this has happened in a big fight. Ross was criticized for improperly scoring the Timothy Bradley-Manny Pacquio controversial fight last year as well. Its best for her to walk away now. And its best for boxing. Dave Naylor, TSN: And my thumb is up to the reception given to former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb at his jersey retirement ceremony on Thursday night. Etiquette has never been the strong suit of Philly fans, and we sure know they seemed to hate McNabb as much as they loved him, starting with the infamous booing of his selection on draft day. But though McNabb never delivered a Super Bowl win to the City of Brotherly Love, Philly fans recognized that he kept the Eagles in the hunt during nearly every one of his 11 seasons in Philly. All the while managing the distinction of being a lightning rod for controversy and a model citizen at the same time. The fact his former coach Andy Reid was there to be honoured as well made this a rare touching moment for what is undoubtedly one of the most harshly critical - and occasionally abusive - fan bases in all of sports.
