Depending on the person and the project, the
New York Casting Directors may:
Create lists of potential stars or known actors for roles to be offered to, create the offers, and contact their representatives
Create character descriptions based on the script to be sent to agents and managers via “Breakdowns,” then sort through literally thousands of submissions to select actors for one or more rounds of auditioning
Coach actors to help them give their best performance in the audition process
Advocate for the actors they think are the best choices to the director, producers, studio, and/or network
Negotiate schedule, contract, and other details with actors’ agents/representatives once offers are made
